2024 CVBA Tryouts
July 22nd
(make up date is July 26th)
Attention OTBA Parents and Players,
OTBA will be conducting CVBA team tryouts for our 8U-12U teams for next season. More information regarding 13U-14U will be forthcoming at a later date. The purpose of these CVBA tryouts is to create the best team at each age level to play the best competition. Each player will participate in infield, outfield, throwing, and hitting drills (pitchers will pitch as well), and be rated based on their skill. ALL current CVBA players and any prospective players MUST attend a tryout.
What: CVBA Baseball Team Tryouts
When: Saturday, July 22nd from 8am-2pm (2 hour time slots) Make Up Date: Wednesday, July 26th from 5:30-8:30 PM
Where: Falls Lenox fields, both the north and south fields. Check in will take place
behind the backstop of the south field.

CVBA is not for everyone. We encourage anyone who feels that their player fits the criteria below to try out.
CVBA players are expected to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrate proper fundamentals for their age when fielding the ball
- Demonstrate proper technique for their age when batting
- Use proper form for their age when throwing the ball at each station
- Hustle to and from each station, and on and off the field
- Display a willingness to learn and improve through training and practice
CVBA is a larger commitment than other levels of baseball. Some things a CVBA player can expect are:
- Players are expected to be at every game
- Winter indoor practice starts in January and runs through the end of March (2- hours every other weekend)
- CVBA season typically starts in late April and ends in early July
- Regular season averages approximately 18- 20 games (28-30 games with tournament games)
- Can expect on average 3-5 regular season games per week
- Weekday games start at 6:00 and player is expected to be at the field 45 minutes prior to start of game for warm up
- Travel to away games typically within a 45 minute radius
- Can expect 2-3 weekend tournaments with games running Friday- Sunday and typically play 3-5 games in that span
- 12U takes a trip to Myrtle Beach for a week long tournament
CVBA player families will be expected to participate in multiple fundraising events to raise money for tournaments, field improvements, indoor practice, team gear.
We are asking that your child attend the age level tryout on July 22nd; however, we understand that some families may have prior commitments. There is a July 26th make up date listed under each link. This date/time has limited slots available and will be a mixed age level tryout.
Olmsted Travel Baseball Association Player Evaluations for 2018 season will be on July 18th thru 20th starting at 6:30 pm.
Players are invited to come and get evaluated by our OTBA coaches.
From evaluations, players will be placed in best situation for their baseball development.
CVBA, Puritas, and LCHS leagues are about 20 game season..
